World Drowning Prevention Day | Flying Lifeboat Takes Flight! Wanzhou’s “Water-Land-Air-Space” Rescue System Safeguards Lives
As World Drowning Prevention Day approaches on July 25, a heartbreaking global statistic confronts us: drowning has become the third-leading cause of accidental death worldwide, claiming approximately 370,000 lives annually. Every 90 seconds, another life is tragically swept away by currents.
Just two days prior, a pulse-pounding rescue unfolded on the Yangtze River in Wanzhou—simulated chaos erupted as thick smoke billowed from a roll-on/roll-off vessel, with actors plunging into the churning waters. Under the coordination of the District Committee’s Politico-Legal Affairs Committee, multiple agencies including Changhang Public Security, Water Police Detachment, Maritime Affairs Office, Fire Rescue, and Tianma Rescue Team rallied instantly. Though not a real emergency, this drill was battlefield training fought in the name of saving lives!
